Can you Wear A Jumpsuit to a Wedding?
Yes you can! Jumpsuits are a great way to add a versatile look to your wedding wardrobe as we kick off the wedding season. Jumpsuits can be a nice departure from the usual gowns and cocktail dresses that are often the top picks for wedding attire.
Jumpsuits have become a popular wardrobe piece for the past several seasons, and they are appropriate as wedding guest attire, just as long as the jumpsuit suits the type of wedding, your personal style, and you're comfortable wearing one of these one-piece items.
If you're a fan of jumpsuits, wearing one to your next wedding can be a great choice. Unless there's a strict dress code, you can usually find a jumpsuit that suits the event. Just remember the usual wedding attire rules apply: informal lightweight fabrics like a print rayon or pastel chiffon work best for daytime or casual outdoor weddings while heavier special occasion fabrics like sequins, satin, and silk are more suitable for evenings and black tie dress code.
The Best Jumpsuits for Wedding Guests
A wedding guest jumpsuit is a great way to add interest to your wedding guest outfit for your next wedding. The wedding season is just starting, and, in our view, dressy jumpsuits are the perfect way to blend a unique look and comfort when picking your looks for going to weddings all season long.
To change up your usual wedding outfit and look, consider a light floral print jumpsuit for a casual summer wedding or a beach wedding. If you're looking for something later in the season, a formal velvet or sequin jumpsuit can be particularly appropriate for fall and winter weddings. Jumpsuits offer the comfort of pants, with the one-piece ease and head-to-toe style of a gown.

Styling a Wedding Guest Jumpsuit Outfit
This dressy navy jumpsuit blends the look of a maxi dress with open slits and wide legs, with the modesty and mobility of pants. It's lovely sapphire satiny fabric that makes it well-suited for an evening wedding. This unique hybrid dress meets pants style is why we've picked it as our featured dressed-up jumpsuit to wear as a wedding guest. As you can see, styling it with some metallic strappy sandals with stiletto heels elevates and elongates the look. To keep the look in the realm of formal wear, accessorize with a cuff bracelet, statement earrings, a clutch, and high heels.

How to Make Sure Your Jumpsuit is Wedding Appropriate
Here are just a few tips to make sure you're selecting a jumpsuit that will be the right foundation for a perfect wedding guest outfit.
- Make sure the jumpsuit fits the wedding dress code. This means a casual printed jumpsuit might be fine for a rustic wedding, but for a black-tie event, you'll need to choose a dressy jumpsuit in more formal fabrics and sophisticated style. If you're planning on wearing a wedding jumpsuit to a formal wedding or black tie event, always consider the event's dress code as well as the time, venue, season, and general tone of the event when selecting your attire. When in doubt, pick something with clean, classic styling and accessorize from there. For a formal event, we particularly love a long sleeve black jumpsuit and glamourous accessories that will fit right in at a black tie event.
- Accessorize accordingly! Many jumpsuits we've seen can seem a little bit more casual than their gown or suit counterparts. Make sure you bring out some eye-catching accessories or go with some more dramatic makeup or styling to accent your look for a fancy wedding. We think jumpsuits look great with high heels and statement jewelry.
- Don't wear white. Even though your jumpsuit probably won't be mistaken for a wedding gown, the age-old rule of not wearing white to a wedding still applies. Steer clear of a white jumpsuit and stick to a floral print or a beautiful bold color. If you are getting married and looking for a white bridal jumpsuit then check out this post on white wedding jumpsuits for brides. We also love jumpsuits for the bridal party. It's a modern look that can be particularly well suited if you're having groomswomen, if you want your bridesmaids to choose their own silhouette, or if the mother of the bride or groom prefers pants.
- Make sure the suit fits your proportions. There are lots of styles for every shape, torso, petite, plus, tall, which is good since your jumpsuit has to fit each aspect from head to toe. Wide-leg jumpsuits are particularly perfect because they are flowy like a dress and give you some flexibility on the dance floor. For tighter fits, make sure you can walk, dance, and sit in the suit without pulling or fit issues. Make sure you're also comfortable with the mechanics of style - they sometimes take some getting used to, especially for trips to the restroom. Don't try one for the first time for an important event.
- Stick to longer lengths. While we think jumpsuits are great for weddings, we think their shorter cousins -- rompers -- are a little too casual for formal wedding events. While we're sure some rompers wouldn't look out of place at a casual outdoor wedding, we just don't think romper styles are appropriate jumpsuits for most types of weddings. For the most part, rompers are usually too short and too informal, and just a fashion risk we personally wouldn't be ready to take at a wedding unless we knew it go over well. We say keep rocking the cute rompers for honeymoons vacations, bridal showers, bachelorette parties, and date nights, and go with a jumpsuit that is below the knee like the mid-length culotte style or longer for a wedding.
- Still not quite ready to wear a jumpsuit for a wedding? Jumpsuits are a great alternative to dresses for so many special events and different occasions. If you love the look but aren't quite ready to wear one at a wedding, try wearing one for the bridal shower or for a welcome party or rehearsal dinner. It's usually a more relaxed event and, therefore, a great time to try out this look.
