A Look at the Jenny Packham SS 2015 Ready to Wear Collection
Some days, I have those pinch-me moments when I realize how lucky I am to do what I love, and how amazed I am that I'm actually doing it. Yesterday, I had just one of those moments when I saw I had an email with the latest images from the Jenny Packham Spring /Summer 2015 Ready-To-Wear show that debuted in New York this week during Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week. While we all know how excited I get for Jenny Packham's bridal creations, her ready-to-wear line contains just as much cause for celebration. I'm in awe of her creativity and her ability to create looks that are like nothing we've seen before, but have all the makings of instant classics. While this isn't my usual style post, I couldn't help but show you these beautiful dresses from this alluring, Marilyn Monroe-inspired collection:
"featured crepes in pillarbox red and bold china blue, draped off the shoulder and clinched at the waist, alongside sleek silhouettes in textured metallic. A full length, form fitting gown in fine illusion tulle encrusted with waterfalls of sequins was inspired by the iconic ‘Some Like it Hot’ cocktail dress." (Shown second-to-last below).
If you'd like to see the runway show itself see this video on jennypackham.com - you can see the Marilyn reference come to life with the music. Here are a few of my favorites from this collection.
The collection inspiration continues:
"Voluminous skirts in saccharine shades of flamingo pink, pale jade and sugar almond in the lightest organza and appliqué lace and separates evocative of Marilyn’s pared down, off-duty wardrobe. A bold palm print was a reference to the lush bungalowed gardens of the Beverly Hills Hotel, where Marilyn famously called home."
With these fantastic creations, Packham has perfectly balanced that reference of glamour at play. If this is ready-to-wear can't wait to see what Jenny Packham's bridal collection will bring!
