Romantic Wedding Dress : Katie May Flutter Sleeve Gown
Katie May Flutter Sleeve Wedding Gown | Ice Queen Earrings from BaubleBar | Jenny Packham Fiori Bracelet | Mother of Pearl Clutch Judith Leiber | Anais Glitter Slingbacks by Jimmy Choo
Happy Wedding Wednesday! Today's wedding dress for Wedding Dress Wednesday is such a stunner, if I do say so myself! It's this Vienna Flutter Sleeve Gown by Katie May. While it's called the flutter sleeve gown, it actually has two remarkable features that I find just amazing. The first, of course, is that beautiful flutter sleeve. From the front it looks like a pretty and like a ruffled cap sleeve, but if you look closely, the flutter sleeve cascades down the back almost like a capelet on the sides. And the back -- well -- the back is not to be missed! Actually, your back is not to be missed, because this gown is absolutely backless! Remember last year how we saw embellished backs on gowns from bridal designers like Karen Willis Holmes and Claire Pettibone? This year, we're seeing this completely open backs, which can be a statement of itself, but also gives a nice option of a trend I've been seeing a lot of lately: the backwards necklace!
I first saw the backwards necklace trend on Fab You Bliss , and then a few weeks later again when Jennifer Lawrence was wearing it at the Oscars. It's a fantastic look for the right bride. When selecting the necklace for this look, you'll need some length in order to make sure it hangs correctly down your back. I find single strands with delicate crystals, long pendants with tassels, or tiered strands that join into one at the closure are great choices. For this particular dress, I like the pearl necklace I've shown below with the beautiful ornamentation in the bottom pendant. I love how the graduated pearls will give interest in the front ( without being too chunky to sit correctly on the neckline) and the pendant adds a beautiful adornment for the back. What do you think? Would you dare to wear a backless gown? And if so, would you dress it up with a backwards necklace?
